Veterinary Technician - VRCC Surgery
VRCC Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital is a 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital located in Englewood, Colorado. We see patients from both as referrals from general practice veterinarians, as well as directly from clients in need of specialty veterinary care for their pet. We specialize in Cardiology, Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Oncology & Radiation Therapy, as well as orthopedic and soft tissue Surgery.

Position Overview:
The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. You will assist in providing patient care for hospitalized patients, during surgical procedures, and throughout the appointment process. Additional responsibilities include monitoring anesthesia and recovery of surgery patients, pack+prep of surgical instruments, rotating on-call duties, and maintaining accurate medical records.
What you’ll do:
- Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
- Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments
- Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and discuss financial obligations
- Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
- Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork
- Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
- Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs
- Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures
- Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance
- Maintain a clean and well functioning hospital
- Running anesthesia
- Scrubbing in with surgeon and assisting in procedure
Who you are:
- Registered Veterinary Technician license required
- 1+ year(s) of veterinary experience required, previous surgery experience desired
- Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
- Flexibility with work hours, and subject to on-call shifts
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Schedule:
-
M-F for appointments and elective surgeries, being flexible about being on call for ER surgeries
