Equine Rehabilitation Veterinary Assistant
VetweRx Equine North (VEN) is an equine veterinary practice that provides a wide range of services to our equine patients. From its inception, VEN has delivered superior veterinary care for horses, with a special interest in sports medicine. This interest led to the creation of our new hospital where we now offer advanced imaging, surgical, and rehabilitation services, in addition to all the amazing services we already offered. We are seeking a candidate to joint our rehab team as an Equine Rehabilitation Support Specialist.
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - May vary depending on workload
Reports to: Practice Manager

Compensation: Hourly
The VEN Rehab Vet Assistant will help manage and carry out rehabilitation therapies for horses in our rehab program. The position may also require other duties around the hospital as assigned by the Practice Manager, Surgeon, and staff veterinarians.
DUTIES
General:
- Maintain clean rehab environment
- Model professionalism and ethical practices
- Rehab equipment maintanance
- Other duties as assigned
Medical:
- Perform rehab therapies such as dry treadmill, water treadmill, vibration therapy, Game Ready therapy, and more.
- Restrain patients as needed.
- Collaborate with veterinarians on a weekly basis to monitor horses' progress and update treatment plans accordingly.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Pay attention to surroundings and keep horses safe at all times
QUALIFICATIONS
- Promote cooperative working environment among staff members
- Willingness to perform as necessary to help the practice function as a unit
- Self-motivated and dependable
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Foster continuous quality improvement
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of horse handling experience.
- Experience in an equine veterinary practice or rehabilitation facility preferred.
- Ability to read horse body language and perform advanced handling of horses.
- Recognize when horses are in distress or acting abnormally
PERSONAL
- Feel and express a genuine liking for animals and for working in an animal-care environment
- Work under the broad general administrative supervision of the managers and doctors, and use sound personal judgment in selecting methods, establishing priorities, and arriving at conclusions
- Be flexible in attitude and work habits
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift at least 50 pounds
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
