Equine Veterinary Technician

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Equine Veterinary Technician to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside our team of veterinarians in providing the highest-quality care to horses of all breeds and disciplines. The ideal candidate will have a passion for equine care, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle horses in a safe and confident manner.
- Assist veterinarians in examinations, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed.
- Prepping patients for surgery and helping monitor anesthesia during surgery.
- Help perform diagnostic imaging, including radiography and ultrasound.
- Collect, process, and analyze lab samples (blood, urine, fecal, etc.).
- Provide nursing care and assist in emergency situations.
- Maintain accurate medical records for patients.
- Ensure proper maintenance and sterilization of medical equipment and instruments.
- Assist with routine farm visits as needed.
- Participate in inventory management and ensure that the clinic is clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Willingness to run or learn to run gas anesthesia.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of horse handling experience.
- Previous experience in equine veterinary care is strongly preferred.
- Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent experience.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Veterinary Technician (CVT preferred).
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle and restrain horses safely and effectively.
- Ability to stay organized and maintain a calm demeanor in high-pressure situations.
