Groomer
Position Overview:
The Groomer will work with our clients and their pets to ensure the pets are safely groomed and healthy. The Groomer will be a highly skilled and experienced groomer, but also an excellent provider of customer service. The Groomer should be a passionate pet lover who is good with customers, is organized and enjoys a busy, fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
- Requires general knowledge of bathing, drying, cleaning ears, deep brushing, de-matting, breed standard cuts, teeth brushing and nail trimming.
- Conduct pet intake and talk to clients at drop off and pick up along with communicating to the clients regarding any issues that may arise.
- Clearly explain grooming process for clients.
- Recommend services based on the needs of the pet/client.
- Give clients an estimate of the cost for the service and how long grooming will take.
- Work with the front desk to coordinate appointment scheduling and communication with clients.
- Keep notes of grooming work performed.
- Consult with client after grooming about future grooming, health needs and additional recommendations. •Keep timely appointment schedule.
- Determine bathing products to use and bathe pet accordingly.
- Determine appropriate tools to be used for required service.
- Clip and comb pet hair according to breed standards and required style.
- Always use proper safe handling techniques to keep pet calm and safely under control.
- Monitor health and well-being of the pets during grooming.
- Alert technicians of any medical issues they should address.
- Also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the grooming area, including cleaning cages, sweeping, and mopping.
- Passionate about quality pet care and pet grooming.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years recent grooming experience.
- Must be able to safely handle all pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Able to groom dogs and other pets based on breed specific needs or owner’s requests.
- Able to perform glands cleaning, ear cleanings and nail trims.
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, and animal dander.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must possess a love of animals and patience and care when handling pets.
