Associate Veterinarian (Small Animal) - Dunnellon Animal Hospital
Complete comprehensive patient work ups to diagnose health, mental, and behavioral conditions. Advise animal owners about general care, housing, animal feeding, animal behavior, and animal breeding. Advise owners on patient care and treatment. Test and vaccinate against diseases, such as distemper and rabies. Prescribe and administer medication. Treat wounds and fractured/broken bones. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and surgeries. Supervise 1-3 Veterinary Technologists. F/T with evening, weekend and/or emergency shifts for potentially over 40 hours/week. Salary $130,000/year.
Requires Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Degree from a U.S. or AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) accredited institution. Foreign equivalent to U.S. DVM /combination of education and experience is acceptable with U.S. equivalency evaluation. Must have three (3) years’ experience in the job offered in a general small animal veterinary practice. Must possess a valid State License to practice Veterinary Medicine in Florida. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Must also: be familiar with Board Rules and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) standards of practice; have experience performing ultrasounds and medical/emergency surgeries; and be able to operate standard veterinary medical equipment (e.g., X-ray machines). Requires availability for evening, weekend, and/or emergency shifts for potentially over 40 hours/week. Also requires ability to perform veterinary services on an emergency or as-needed basis off-site.
