Charge Capture - VRCC Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital
VRCC Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital is a 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital located in Englewood, Colorado. We see patients from both referrals from general practice veterinarians, as well as directly from clients in need of specialty veterinary care for their pets. We specialize in Cardiology, Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Oncology & Radiation Therapy, as well as orthopedic and soft tissue Surgery.
Description: The Charge Capture position provides support to maintain the client billing process and ensure charging and cash collection procedures are being completed correctly. This position requires a high aptitude for attention to detail and accuracy. Areas of focus include Client Financial Communication, the Charge Entry Process, and Accounts Receivable.
Tasks:
- Create estimates for hospitalized patients, communicate costs to client and obtain signature for authorization to provide care.
- Ensure client leaves initial deposit. Update invoice and collect additional deposits, as necessary, if treatment plan changes over the duration of hospitalization.
- Enter all charges for hospitalized cases based on Instinct treatment records and the written medical record in Cornerstone.
- Review invoices for errors; correct errors and document the overall value that was over or under charged.
- Ensure all charges are updated and correct before client checks out.
- Correct outpatient invoices, as necessary, to reflect the correct provider code and accurate DVM production.
- Process monthly Accounts Receivable statement mailings and phone calls to collect outstanding balances.
- Assist in collection of payment plans
- Act as back-up to Cash Team for close-outs and bank deposits.
- Apply discounts and close open invoices in Cornerstone weekly.
- Process client refunds.
- Update and submit Accounts Receivable status on the PetVet portal weekly.
- Submit accounts for formal collections procedures.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications:
- Customer service experience, minimum 3 years
- Cashier experience and/or account reconciliation experience.
- Medical billing or veterinary billing experience.
- High school diploma or GED, may consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
- Knowledge of clerical procedures such as alphabetizing files and records
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends and holidays
- Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or extended periods of time standing and/or walking
- May involve some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
