*Please note this role is paid hourly however the annualized salary is $60k - $80k
*Please also note this role will be an on-site role working out of our Home Office in Westport, CT*

The Leaves Specialist supports PetVet’s benefits initiatives and its employee population in leave related topics and questions. This role handles all types of employee leaves, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, short-term disability, long-term disability, personal leave, and military leave
This role will work to research and resolve leave related issues and is responsible for day-to-day Manager and employee leave related inquiries.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as the first point of contact for for leave of absence administration
- Updates and maintains employee leave information in the Dayforce HRIS system
- Maintains reasonable communication with employees during their leave of absence to facilitate a smooth leave of absence experience and timely return to work
- Manages bi-weekly billing of employees for employees’ Benefits deductions not taken while on leave
- Works with New York Life, PetVet’s disability carrier, to manage disability claims
- Completes related paperwork for any state paid leave of absence timely and accurately
- Maintains Leaves mailbox; responds to leave of absence related inquiries in a professional manner and escalates correspondence when necessary and appropriate
- Ensures all inquiries are acknowledged daily and resolved in an appropriate amount of time with exemplary customer service to drive employee satisfaction
- Keeps employees and/or management apprised of status of inquiry/resolution
- Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of leave requests, approvals, and denials
- Maintains knowledge of leave and state disability requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.
- Troubleshoots, provides training and support to Managers for any leaves related issue
- Attends regularly scheduled and/or ad hoc meetings
- Identifies and reports and key or systemic issue; collaborate on resolution plans
- Any and all other duties as assigned

The Successful Candidate:
- Minimum 3 years of related experience in Leaves administration
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local leave and workers' compensation laws
- Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Computer and Microsoft Excel proficiency required
- Proficiency in HRIS and leave management software, Dayforce experience a plus
- Results focused; roll up your sleeves attitude; strong team player
