Equine Veterinary Technician
Position Overview:
We are looking for a Equine Veterinary Technician for our Maryland Division at Fairhill Training Center.
The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.
Essential Position Functions: Equine Veterinary Technician
- Restraining large horses for procedures scoping, x-rays-treatments- exams
- Ensure the safety of the Veterinarian
- Assist Veterinarian with taking X-rays, ultrasounds of horse
- Set up equipment
- Must be able to lift up to 50+ lbs.
- Jog horses for exams
- Scrub injection or surgical sites
- Stock Veterinarian work truck
- Order supplies from Pharmacy and stock shelves, or vehicles
- Working outdoors at racetrack, in stalls, or other areas in different weather conditions
- Assist with inventory in vehicles
- Work with medical equipment, ensure working properly, call for repairs as needed
- Must be computer savvy
- Keep vehicles clean and orderly
- Keep common areas such as storage trailers and satellite office facilities clean and orderly.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
